Here are a few facts about me:
- I worked as a D&T teacher for nearly 30 years before becoming an Education Consultant (this is my classroom in my last school)
- I have also worked as a retail manager for Mothercare
- I worked in a number of different roles in education including Head of Department, Advanced Skills Teacher and Assistant Principal
- I have worked in 5 different schools in London and the Midlands
- I was award a distinction in the Guardian Teaching Awards as well as a leadership award from the D&T Association
- I am the author of a GCSE textbook as well as the joint author of a KS3 textbook
- I regularly write articles for D&T education magazines as well as mainstream textiles magazines such as Sewing World
- I have experience as an External Examiner and Moderator for 2 exam boards
- I am known nationally for my work in textiles breaking down gender stereotypes & the work I do to support textiles teachers and students
- I produce and sell my own textiles work as a designer maker
- My current role as an Education Consultant means I work with teachers and students to help them maximise their potential. Some of this work is in textiles, some of it is in D&T as a whole, and some of it is supporting teaching and learning in schools generally. I work with my husband, Paul Boyd, and together we are known as Boyd Education.
