  • Example definition might include: Cotton produced using natural fertilisers and pesticides, workers’ health considered important during production, no GM seed used, crop rotation that protects the land quality, has to be certified it meets these standards
  • For the full 2 marks additional detail must be given. Vague statements such as ‘chemicals’ are unlikely to get more than 1 mark - use specific words such as pesticides


Where a question also asks about how organic cotton might add value to a product the answer will include similar content to above but will have a specific reference to users e.g. relating the health and wellbeing of the person wearing the product to organic cotton, health and well being of the farmer etc.
